butoh workshop

Darkness, look deep into it and you will not recognize a thing. The sun, you cannot look at it, although you can see things in its light. However you look at it, you are afraid to look on either of them directly and you are tempted to do so.
Nobuyushi Asai is an innovative Butoh artist, leaning on the ideas of traditional Butoh and combining the two, with use of his virtuous physical ability.
In his Butoh, the depth of the physical expression, Tenderness, extreme costume and space design are all in a continues dialogue and struggle with the wonderful aesthetic tradition of the SANKAIJUKU group, in which he was a member for the past years.
The workshop is aimed for dancers, actors and creators, interested in experiencing butoh, developing their body skills and expanding their mental skills.
