Dmitry Tyulpanov

Performer, creator and musician

Born in Leningrad, USSR (St. Petersburg, Russia), 1966.

Studied stone carving at the Leningrad Crafts School, and acting and music at the Leningrad University School.

After graduating, he was drafted into the Red Army band as a trumpet player.

In 1988, using the experience and some new skills one could only learn in the Red Army, Dmitry joined the rock group Avia.
The founders of the group later formed the theater group Derevo, led by Anton Adasinski.
Dmitry worked with Derevo until 1995, performing in numerous European festivals and venues.
As a group member of Derevo he created his first full-length performance.
Dmitry began his artistic collaboration with Idit Herman in 1994.

In addition to creating and performing, Dmitry writes the music and creates the soundtracks for most of Clipa Theater's productions. He invents, designs and builds the sets, props and special devices for all of the group's performances.

Idit Herman

Performer, director and designer

Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, 1971.
Studied dance from the moment she could walk and choreography a little later.

Between the years 1989-1991, Idit was a member of Batsheva Dance Company. In 1992 she traveled to Europe and worked with choreographers and dance groups from The Netherlands and Belgium.

Idit abandoned her modern dance dream and began collaborating with Dmitry Tyulpanov after their fateful encounter in 1993.

In 1995, after two years of countless improvisation performances throughout Europe, Idit and Dmitry founded Clipa Theater in Tel Aviv.

in addition to serving as the Clipa's artistic director, she directs and designs most of the group's productions.

Idit and Dmitry create 2-4 new stage works and projects each year, and somehow manage to stay married. Their creative partnership yielded a unique dance-theater language, which they continue to develop together with Clipa group members, and which has established Clipa Theater as the leading visual theater group in Israel.
